# How do you use the distributive property to rewrite and evaluate (4+5)6?

Feb 12, 2017

$\left(4 + 5\right) \textcolor{red}{6} = \left(4 \times \textcolor{red}{6}\right) + \left(5 \times \textcolor{red}{6}\right)$
and this equals: $54$
To use the distributive property we multiply each term within the parenthesis by $\textcolor{red}{6}$:
$\left(4 + 5\right) \textcolor{red}{6} = \left(4 \times \textcolor{red}{6}\right) + \left(5 \times \textcolor{red}{6}\right) = 24 + 30 = 54$
