# How do you write 10times10^11 as one scientific number?

Dec 20, 2016

$10 \times {10}^{11} = {10}^{12}$
$10 = {10}^{1}$, and ${10}^{11} = \left(10 \times 10 \times 10. \ldots \ldots . . \times 10\right)$
You know that ${10}^{2} = 10 \times 10$, and ${10}^{3} = 10 \times 10 \times 10$
And so ${10}^{11} = {10}^{3 + 3 + 3 + 2}$, and ${10}^{11} \times 10 = {10}^{11 + 1} = {10}^{12}$.
