Heat consumption and release.


A building facing south generally consumes the most heat from the sun. Conversely, a north facing building (in general - depends on where you live) will consume less heat. If the goal is to heat the building, facing south will be the most cost effective because less money will be spent heating the building through other means such as gas and electricity.
