How does climate influence weathering?

It affects the types and severity of weathering phenomena.

Explanation:

"Weathering" is the erosion of landscape (usually rock, but also waterways) caused by abrasion and splitting. Abrasion requires stronger winds and particles, and splitting from expansion/contraction cycles (and accelerated by water).

Thus, temperate (cycle temperature) climates are more likely to "weather" faster than either very cold or hot dry climates. Arctic and desert environments may still experience a lot of weathering by winds and solid particles (ice, sand) without any water.

Any climate that includes "severe weather" events will also have more weathering effects than milder areas.
