steam locomotive is actually two parts.

Explanation:

One The boiler where coal burns and stream is produced.
Two the steam engine which use the power form steam to drive the train. The boiler is a fire tube boiler. Coal burns with natural draft..You have to ignite coal first with some wood or kerosene etc. carbon burns with oxygen produce carbon di oxide and heat energy.enter image source here
