They use the same principle but at different distances.

Triangulation is used for earth bound objects in determining the objects location and distance, measure an object from two different locations and use simple geometry to solve; #a^2 + b^2 = c^2#. Parallax uses the earth's orbit in measuring an object at two different times of the year and using the same geometry to solve.
