Mainly the skeletal system protects the nervous system.
The skeletal system also aids movement when the neurons send nerve impulses to the muscle.

Explanation:

The skeleton forms a framework for the body. The bones are composed of calcium which makes it strong. Thus it protects the whole body including the organs, glands etc. Eg. The ribs protect the lungs from any sort of injuries, the vertebrae protects the spinal cords from any sort of damage, the skull protects the brain etc.
The joints of the bones hold the muscles together. Hence the muscles can move when there is an impulse from the brain(through nervous system).
