How long does it take for the rock to hit the ground?

A boy throws a rock (mass = 2 kg) out a window. The window is 0.8m above the ground and the rock has an initial velocity: v= (10ˆi+ 3ˆj) m/s whereˆj is in the positive y direction.

How far does the rock travel horizontally in that time?

Please see below

Explanation:

In the given problem, the trajectory of the stone will be as follows, shown in the image below, because it was thrown in such a fashion, that it has #3 ms^-1# velocity in positive #Y# direction i.e upwards,so it will first go up and then come down to the same height and finally to the ground, but at the same time it was thrown with #10ms^-1# along positive #X# axis,i.e horizontally,so it will fall on the ground, far from the point of release, which stated as #CD# in the image.
