The eukaryotic cells divide by mitosis and meiosis.
Mitosis-The vegetative cells divide by the mitosis and help in the growth and development of the organisms. In the animal body, the mitosis division for growth is limited to particular period of life. In special circumstances, the permanent cells divide to heal the wounds. But in the plant cells, the meristematic cells divide throght of life for the growth.
Meiosis-The meiotic cell division is confined to reproduction. It leads to reduction of the number of chromosomes. The crossing-over leads to recomniation of genes.
