The major difference between the two is on which kind of cell they occur. Mitosis only occurs on somatic or vegetative cells while meiosis occurs on sex cells or gametes.

Explanation:

Other differences are as follows:
- Mitosis produces diploid daughter cells while meiosis produces haploid daughter cells
-Meiosis has to stages that is Meiosis I and Meiosis II
-Mitosis function mostly for maintenance, growth and repair of bodily tissues while meiosis functions for chromosome controrl and reproduction
