I need help with these 4 problems, urgently! Please reply very quickly! Quickness appreciated! Can you help me solve these problems?

  1. Sally collected apples from 4 trees. From the first tree she collected 1/3 lb. The last three trees she collected ¼ lb each. How many pounds of apples did she collect in all?

a. After eating some of the apples she had ¾ of a pound left. How many pounds of the apples did she eat?

  1. Ashley went to the bookstore. She spent 1/3 of her money on a pen and 5/7 of it on books. What fraction of her money did she have left?

  2. Meredith painted 1/5 of the classroom, and Tirth painted some, too. When they were finished, 2/3 of the classroom still needed to be painted. What fraction of the room did Tirth paint?

See a solution process below:

Explanation:

1.

The total collected would be:

#1/3 + 1/4 + 1/4 + 1/4 = 1/3 + (1 + 1 +1)/4 = 1/3 + 3/4 =#

#(4/4 xx 1/3) + (3/3 xx 3/4) = 4/12 + 9/12 = (4 + 9)/12 = 13/12#

If you want this as a mixed number it would be:

#13/12 = (12 + 1)/12 = 12/12 + 1/12 = 1 + 1/12 = 1 1/12#

Sally collected #13/12# lbs or #1 1/12# lbs of apples from the 4 trees.

a.

If she had #3/4# lb left we can calculate what she ate as:

#13/12 - 3/4 = 13/12 - (3/3 xx 3/4) = 13/12 - 9/12 = 4/12 = 1/3#

Sally ate #1/3# of a lb of the apples.

1.

First we can find how much of Ashley's money was spent in total:

#1/3 + 5/7 = (7/7 xx 1/3) + (3/3 xx 5/7) = 7/21 + 15/21 =#

#(7 + 15)/21 = 22/21#

Because #22/21# is greater than 1 or 100% of her money, Ashley spent more than she had.

2.

Together, Meredith and Tirth painted #1/3# of the classroom:

#3/3 - 2/3 = (3 - 1)/3 = 2/3#

We can find how much Tirth painted as:

#1/3 - 1/5 = (5/5 xx 1/3) - (3/3 xx 1/5) = 5/15 - 3/15 =#

#(5 - 3)/15 = 2/15#

Tirth painted #2/15# of the room.
