Explanation:

  • when only 8 corner points of a cube are the lattice points (as in the
    first image ) the lattice unit is called Simple Cube
  • when 8 corner points of a cube as well as its 6 face centers are the lattice points (as in thesecond image ) the lattice unit is called Face Centered Cube
