For convinces sake lets say f(x) is y:

y = 5x + 12

To find the inverse of the function, swap x and y and solve for y again.

x = 5y + 12

Subtract 12 on both sides:
x - 12 = 5y

Divide by 5:
y = (x - 12) / (5)

So f^(-1)(x) = (x-12)/(5)
