If I have 2.00 moles of solute dissolved into 1.00 L of solvent. What's the molality?

1 Answer

To answer this question we will assume that the solvent is water. The mass of the solvent will be 1.00kg.

NOTE: The density of water is 1g = 1mL

(1.00 L)/(1)x(1000 mL)/(1 L)x(1 g)/(1 mL)x(1 kg)/(1000g)= 1.00 kg

To calculate the molality we use the relationship-

(mol solute)/(kg solvent) = molality

(2.00 mol solute)/(1.00 kg solvent) = 2.00m
