The noun/pronoun/adjective that follows a linking verb such as is or was is the subject complement. It must complete the meaning of the sentence.

My and neighbor precede the linking verb, so they are not correct.

Your neighbor is not a newspaper, he/she is a newspaper reporter. You could eliminate newspaper from the sentence and it would be correct (as a sentence) because your neighbor is a reporter (adding newspaper only makes it more specific), not a newspaper.
