In which type of rock would you be most likely to find layers?

Sedimentary most likely, but possibly metamorphic and igneous too.

Explanation:

Sedimentary rocks are generally laid down as sediments or chemical precipitates in flat lying positions. After these sediments or chemical precipitates are covered by billions of tonnes of overlying sediments, they gradually turn to rock as chemicals cement them - called lithification. So, when they get uplifted and exposed at the surface, they tend to be in layers. See Grand Canyon pic.

Metamorphic rocks can also appear in layers, particularly if they used to be sedimentary rocks before they were metamorphosed. See 2nd pic.

Igneous rocks are usually more massive in appearance but some basaltic lava flows can also appear as layers. See 3rd pic.
