# Is the distance that a person throws a baseball a discrete or continuous variable?

Distance is known most often as a continuous variable as it can take up and $\mathbb{R}$ number.
for example, you can throw a ball $25.784 m$
something like the amount of people hit a home run in a game would be discrete as that value can only be a $\mathbb{N}$ number as you can not have $1.3$ people hit a home run.
