The pancreas is an endocrine gland with some exocrine functions that aid the digestive system.

The pancreas is a glandular organ situated just behind the stomach in the abdominal cavity. It is part of the digestive system and endocrine system of the human body.

As an endocrine gland , it produces various hormones (including insulin and glucagon) that circulate in the blood stream and aid in glucose metabolism.

As part of the digestive system , it secretes digestive enzymes into the small intestine to aid in the breakdown of carbohydrates, proteins and lipids and the absorption of nutrients.
