# Mr. Rose spent $63 for a sport jacket and a pair of slacks. If the jacket cost$33 more than the slacks, how much did he pay for each?

I found Jacket $48 and slacks $15.
Call the cost of the jacket $j$ and of the slacks $s$; you get:
$\left\{\begin{matrix}j + s = 63 \\ j = s + 33\end{matrix}\right.$
$s + 33 + s = 63$
$2 s = 30$
s=30/2=$15 for the slacks and back into the second: j=13+33=$48 for the jacket.
