The Cranial Cavity is the most protective as the skull completely encapsulates the brain.

Next would be the Vertebral Cavity which surrounds the spinal cord. However the flexibility of the spinal column and the instability of the vertebral discs put the spinal cord at some risk.

Together the Cranial and Spinal form the Dorsal Cavity.

Next would be the Thoracic Cavity which is composed of the ribcage and muscles. This provides protection for the heart and lungs.

Next would be the Pelvic Cavity which protects organs of the urinary and reproductive systems.

Last would be the Abdominal Cavity which is entirely surrounded by the musculature of the abdominal walls.

Together the Thoracic, Abdominal and Pelvic Cavities form the Vental Cavity.
