In spherical coordinates you might write:

#r = c" "# for some constant #c > 0#.

Explanation:

Strictly speaking, polar coordinates are 2 dimensional. If you want to express 3 dimensional coordinates then you can use one of the following:

  • Rectangular coordinates, i.e. three ordinates #x#, #y# and #z#.

  • Cylindrical coordinates, i.e. polar coordinates #r#, #theta# plus a #z# coordinate.

  • Spherical coordinates. There are several different kinds of spherical coordinates, usually given as a triple #r#, #theta#, #phi#. The different systems measure angles from the equator or the poles.

In any spherical coordinate system, the equation of a sphere is simply:

#r = c#

for some positive constant #c#.
