Get your weigh-boat .... usually from the oven, but probably some other punter has used it and not replaced it....

You can buy these, but you or your glassblower can make them.

And tare the weigh-boat on the scales. Sometimes you can zero the scales. Take the weigh-boat off the scales, AND THEN add your reagent to the approximate mass...one NEVER adds reagent to the boat on the balance. Why not? Because an analytical balance is a precision instrument, and you do not want to contaminate the mechanism with your stuff.

Record the mass of reagent. And then add the reagent to your reaction vessel...if you like you can reweigh the weigh-boat to see that you have transferred all the reagent, but usually this is not an issue even with fine powders.
