Stars appear to move from east to west [or] west to east [or] south to north [or] north to south ?

Just like the Sun, Moon etc. astronomical objects including stars appear to ‘rise’ in the east and move westwards till they set.


All these effects are due to relative motion - the Earth spins in the opposite direction (anti-clockwise if seen from above the North Pole, or towards the east if seen from the surface of the planet.)

Stars in particular are effectively stationary over the time frame you might observe them, given their enormous distances from us, so provide a “static” backdrop for the motion of the Earth to be seen.
