The area is:
#A=pir^2#
from the problem we know that:
#P=8A#
or
#2cancel(pi)cancel(r)=8*cancel(pi)r^cancel(2)#
#r=2/8=1/4km#
so the width or diameter of the park will be:
#w=2r=2*1/4=1/2km#
