The war hawks were a group of congressmen and senators that wanted to war with the United Kingdom in hopes of conquering Canada and making Canada part of the United States.

As a result of the conflicts between French and England, England head been impressing America sailors and taking American cargos thought to be intended to help the French.

The actions of the United Kingdom in taking American sailors and cargos, angered the United States. The war hawks wanted to use the actions of the United Kingdom to declare war on the United Kingdom. The War Hawks felt that the United States could win another war against England with the help of the French as during the American Revolution. The glittery prize of taking Canada made going to war against the United Kingdom desirable.

The War Hawks pushed for war against England, that resulted in the war of 1812.
