This is the reason why dividing by 2 gives the calorie count of 1 slice:

Using ratio we have #("calories")/("count of slices") =230/2#

But we need the calories for 1 slice. So we need to change the 2 slices to 1.

For multiply or divide in ratio (or equivalent fractions) what you do to the bottom you do to the top

#("calories")/("count of slices") =230/2 -> (color(magenta)(230-:2))/(2-:2) = 115/1#

From this you will observe that for 1 slice we have 115 calories

The #color(magenta)("highlighted part")# is where Swertang gets the 'divide by 2' from.
