Iraq`s invasion of Kuwait.

Explanation:

In 1990 on August 2 Iraq invaded Kuwait and resulting in a decisive Iraq victory. Saddam Hussein justified this by claiming Kuwait was slant drilling and stealing Iraq oil. In reality Iraq owed Kuwait a huge amount of money that it borrowed to fund the war against Iran. Either Iraq could not pay back or Hussein simply did not want to pay back the loan to Kuwait.
