Common examples of aggregate fruits are:
Fragaria (Strawberry), Ailanthus, Calotropis (Ak), Annona squamosa (Custard apple), Rubus sp. (Blackberry).

Explanation:

Aggregate fruits develop from flower with apocarpous pistil. In these a number of simple fruits are present on a common thalamus.

These are of different types, depending upon the basis of simple fruits. The aggregate fruits are named by putting “etaerio” as a prefix before the type of simple fruit.

Different types of aggregate fruits are:

  1. Etaerio of Achenes, e.g. Fragaria sp. (Strawberry), Ranunculus (Buttercup), Nelumbium (Lotus), etc.
  2. Etaerio of Follicle, e.g. Calotropis (Ak), etc.
  3. Etaerio of Samaras, e.g. Ailanthus
  4. Etaerio of Drupes, e.g. Rubus sp. (Blackberry, Raspberry)
  5. Etaerio of Berries, e.g. Annona squamosa ( Custard apple)
