Separating insoluble products from a solution.

Explanation:

Consider the following double-displacement reaction that produces a precipitate:

#AgNO_3(aq)+KCl(aq)->KNO_3(aq)+AgCl(s)darr#

When we mix the two solutions of silver nitrate and potassium chloride, we get a solution of potassium nitrate and insoluble silver chloride, which forms as a precipitate in the solution.

In order to separate it out, we can filtrate the new solution, which would leave out silver chloride on the filter paper, and then the remaining potassium nitrate in the solution.
