Reduction of waste and pollution, conservation of natural resources, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

Explanation:

Recycling has many benefits, especially when we consider a human population of over 7 billion with all its demands on natural resources. Recycling can apply to many different substances that humans use: plastics, glass, metals, water, paper, agricultural waste, domestic waste, industrial effluents, etc.

Primarily, recycling helps conserve natural resources: trees, water, fossil fuels, forests/mountains (which are destroyed by mining).

Secondarily, recycling reduces waste and pollution as well as greenhouse gas emissions: firstly by reducing garbage at landfills; secondly by reducing toxic leaching into air, water and soil; thirdly by reducing energy for processing of ore or raw material.
