The spore is a unit of sexual or asexual reproduction that is adapted for dispersal and survival for extended periods of time even in unfavourable conditions.

Explanation:

Spores are unicellular reproductive units of non flowering plants, bacteria, fungi and algae and are able to be dispersed over long distances. Some bacteria also produce spores as a means to survive very harsh conditions.

They are usually haploid and unicellular and are produced by meiosis in the sporophyte. Once conditions are favourable these spores germinate into new organisms using mitotic division.
