Depends on whether it starts out as a light star or heavy weight, but two broad pathways are possible - with one sub-pathway.

Explanation:

Stars with smallish mass tend to become Red Giants over time and then become a White Dwarf star.

Larger stars burn out quicker and also become Red Giant stars, but from this stage they become a supernova. After that, they either become a super dense neutron star or become a black hole.
