The main functions of the nasal cavity are the moderate the temperature of the inhaled air, to moisturise it, and to filter out dust and other particles.

Explanation:

During inhalation, air circulates in the nasal cavity which causes the temperature to be raised or lowered (depending on the ambient temperature of air around the person) to near body temperature.

The nasal mucous membranes moisturise the air as it passes through.

The nasal mucous membranes and hairs (vibrissae) trap dust and other particulate matter, and cilia transfer the trapped particles to the pharynx from where it passes to the digestive system.
