There are several ways we lose water
Explanation:
- Sweating: in a hot environment we try to keep our body temperature constant by evaporating water
- Urinating: our kidneys have to dilute some body waste with water to make it past our bladder and urethra
- Defecation: our faeces still contains water, or it wouldn't pass our bowels. Mind you, most of the water in your intestine is retrieved, but some of it must pass out.
- Breathing: In a dry atmosphere the air has to be moistened, or oxygen transfer will not work. Most of this moisture is breathed out (see the 'clouds' from your mouth on a cold day).
