A search reveals at least 4 Balkan Crisis of different dates, 1990 and 1914 are the most telling and were about national aspirations the Balkan area.

Explanation:

In 1914, a group of Serbian Nationists attempting to create a larger Serbian Kingdom from the Austro-Hungarian holdings in the Balkans assassinated the Heir to Austro-Hungarian Empire triggering the run of events that led to World War 1.

In 1990 and after, secessionist movements in a number of the component states of Yugoslavia triggered the exit clause in the Yugoslav Constitution. The Yugoslav Army attempted to prevent the dissolution. The Yugoslav Army fell increasingly under the influence of Serbian Nationalists leading to a series of difficult and sometimes bloody conflicts.
