The Earth's tilt (or wobble) is what causes the seasons.

Explanation:

As the Earth moves around the sun, its tilt stays fixed in one direction, so that during the summer the northern hemisphere is pointed towards the sun, and in the winter the southern hemisphere is pointed towards the sun.

This means that while the northern hemisphere points towards the sun, the northern hemisphere experiences summer and the southern hemisphere experiences winter, and vice versa for when the southern hemisphere points towards the sun.
