Halitosis means bad breath.

Explanation:

Halitosis is the medical term for bad breath, which is when your mouth exudes an unpleasant odour usually because of poor dental and oral hygiene such as improper brushing and flossing.

Since digestion starts in the mouth with salivary enzymes, the breakdown products of food exude odours which usually pass once the food is swallowed. However food particles stuck between teeth continue to be broken down and exude an odour if they are not properly removed.

Odour-causing bacteria, smoking, and chewing tobacco can add to the unpleasant smell.
