Middle ear connects ear drum ,the last portion of external ear to internal ear through three ear bones.
Explanation:
Middle ear has two functions to do. External ear end with ear drum. Sound vibrations pass to internal ear through three ear ossicles.
Middle ear cavity open through Eustachian tube to pharynx. This equalizes air pressure to both sides of the ear drum.
when there is a very large sound air pressure equalization protects ear drum. When you move to high altitude the air in middle ear expands. There is feel of chocking in ear. This is the reason when you fly it is advised to chew chewing gum to equalize the air pressure.
