Both ends remain magnetic

Explanation:

While a magnetic monopole seems theoretically possible, one has never been created. Both ends of a cut magnet will remain magnetic.

You get 2 normal magnets! They are very similar to the original, just shorter.

Explanation:

Imagine the magnet sitting with the North pole to your left and South pole to your right.

Now cut it in half -- without moving the pieces. The left half will have its North pole on its left end -- same place it originally was. The cut end of the left half is a South pole. The right half will have its South pole on its right -- same place it originally was. The cut end of the right half is a North pole.

Therefore the 2 pieces will attract each other where you left them.

I hope this helps,
