Marco Polo had a large impact on World Trade.

The book Marco Polo wrote about his journey to China inspired the imagination of Europe. HIs descriptions of the wealth of China under the Tang dynasty of Kubala Kong amazed his European readers. This created a desire for direct trade with China.
The Silk Road had been the only way to trade with China. Goods were passed along the silk road through many middle men.

Because of the writings of Marco Polo Europe wanted to be able to trade directly with China. Portugal started to explore the coast of Africa seeking a way to trade with India and China. Portugal was the first European nation to reach China and establish trade with China.

Spain's exploration of the New World by Columbus was an effort to reach China for trade. The Americas stood in the way but the Americas also became a huge source of trade.

As a result of Marco Polo's journeys there was a huge impact on World Trade.
