you do need to multiply #2/3# by #12#.

you can either:

convert #12# into a fraction (#12/1#)

multiply fractions #12/1# and #2/3# to get #(12*2)/(1*3)#

this gives #24/3#, which is #8/1# or #8#.

or:

divide #12# by #3# (this is #1/3 * 12#, or #4#)

multiply that by #2# (#4 * 2 = 8#)

for both, the answer is #8#.
