Electricity is used to power many things everyday including the computer you wrote this from. Energy from the electricity comes from the movement of electrons due to their voltage. As the electrons move from one place to another they lose energy due to the resistance provided by the objects they travel to. Every device which uses electricity to power something uses the force of resistance so that it may harness the potential energy lost from the electrons as they move through it.
