Hardening of the glomerulus in the kidney is called glomerulosclerosis.
Explanation:
One of the signs of glomerulosclerosis is the presence of large amounts of proteins in urine. Low protein diet, a control on cholesterol and diabetes may help control of further glomerulosclerosis in some cases.
Scarred glomeruli cannot be repaired and mostly the situation gets worse over time until the kidneys fail. During this end stage renal disease, the patient requires a dialysis treatment or a kidney transplant.
