What is one major advantage of digital recordings over analog recordings?

There are several, I’ll give a list and my view.

Explanation:

The original signal can be reconstructed from the received signal even if it has been degraded by interference/noise.

The signal can be stored, manipulated & transmitted (shared) digitally. This means it can be compressed, reducing (expensive/limited) bandwidth or “cleaned up” to improve the acoustic balance/timing.

They can carry much higher information densities and do so over longer distances (related to first point.)

I’d probably say the first reason is ‘the’ major advantage.
