The #sin x# -function goes from #0# and #1# via #0# to #-1# and back again to #0#
So the maximum "distance" from #0# is #1# on either side.

We call that the amplitude, with in case of #sin x# equals #1#

If you multiply the whole thing by #6#
then the amplitude will also be #6#
