What is the domain and range of y = 2(x-1)^2 - 6?

As for the domain of $x$ there are no restrictions (no roots, no fractions)
Since a square like ${\left(x - 1\right)}^{2}$ can never be negative,
this limits the range to $\left[- 6 , \infty\right)$
the $- 6$ happening when $x = 1$
