# What is the domain and range of y = 7/x?

Jul 3, 2017

The only restriction to the domain is that $x \ne 0$
Since this is the only restriction to $x$, $y$ may have any value.
So the range is $- \infty < y < + \infty \mathmr{and} y \ne 0$
$x = 0 \mathmr{and} y = 0$ are called asymptotes
