Consider,

#2CO(g) + O_2(g) to 2CO_2(g)#

Moreover, consider the standard formation of carbon dioxide,

#C(s) + O_2(g) to CO_2(g)# where #DeltaH_f^° = (-393.5kJ)/"mol"#

We usually don't calculate the enthalpy of formation, that's why thermodynamic tables exist!
