Its main function is to combat with any disease causing foreign agent i.e antigen.

Explanation:

Antibodies are special types of proteins and are also known as immunoglobulins. These are produced by vertebrates in response to antigen.Antibodies combat with and ultimately destroy the antigen which has stimulated their formation.

These are like troop of our body. Whenever they notice an assailant(antigen), they start to combat with them in order to protect the body from the harmful consequences. And this fight ends with the death of the assailant(antigen) or with the death of the soldier(antibody).
