What is the homeobox?
A homeobox is a group of genes that are expressed during embryo development which direct the anatomical development of body parts.
The first work was done with fruit flies. These genes are found in other animals such as ourselves. Work is being done that shows that these are similar across species and may be used to show how the lines evolved. These genes are only expressed at development and are among the genes we have been calling "junk" DNA.
